Making a To Do List with Markdown

Just a quick tip. I've really gotten into using text markup languages like Markdown to generate HTML. One thing I have been trying to figure out is a good way to do a To Do list. After experimenting a bit, I think this simple solution is best.
* [] Item 1
* [] Item 2

Thats it just a bullet list with a brackets. By using the list, each line is separate and indented instead of getting all jumbled together. To mark completion, just put an "x" in the brackets. This is probably so simple it is not work mentioning, but I stumbled across the idea and thought I should share.

An example list in HTML might look like this:
  • [x] Item 1
  • [] Item 2
  • [] Item 3
