Chrome's Web Speech API Is Here

CNET reported today full support for voice dictation in Chrome version 25. They described the support as voice recognition. But if you look at this demo, This looks much more like voice dictation than voice recognition. To me, voice recognition would have to do with recognizing commands and being able to control applications with your voice. It will be interesting to see whether Apple or Google will come up with voice control first.

However, one should not overlook the fact that adding general voice dictation to a browser is a big deal.
